There will be two Internet Society meetings in conjunction with ICANN46 in Beijing, China. All members are welcome to participate, either in person or online. Online participation comprises of a webex conference (with an alternative phone bridge), plus an additional live text transcription and video webcast. Beijing is 12 hours ahead of NYC.
On Thursday March 28 2013 the Internet Society’s Deploy360 Programme will present ION Singapore, co-located with the ICT Business Summit 2013. A remarkable line up of speakers has been assembled. As usual ION will provide high-level discussion and technical information related to IPv6, DNSSEC, and Secure Routing. Less usually, this one will be also webcast live via the Internet Society livestream channel. It’s a great opportunity to catch up on the latest developments in these vital aspects of Internet development and security. No registration is required to watch the webcast. While it does start at 2am NYC time, it will be instantly archived.
On Monday March 18 2013 the Internet Society’s New York Chapter (ISOC-NY) webcast the Brooklyn Futurist Meetup’s event The Future of 3D Manufacturing – Brooklyn Style. Panelists were Rob Steiner from MakerBot, J.F. Brandon from D-Shape, Duann Scott from Shapeways, and Brian Jepson, editor from Make Magazine, organizer of Maker Faire. As it did in 2012, on Tuesday March 12 2013 the Internet Society’s Greater Washington Chapter (ISOC-DC) will again host this year’s Internet Freedom Fellows in a follow up event to their induction in Geneva. The Fellows will have an opportunity to discuss their experiences advocating for basic human rights and the role of the Internet in formulating their success. On Wednesday February 6 2013 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held a Workshop on Network Resiliency at Brooklyn Law School. Organized by Henning Schulzrinne, the FCC’s Chief Technical Officer, the workshop focused on the lessons learned from both 9-11 and Superstorm Sandy. It was a full day event. The venue, Brooklyn Law’s Forchelli Center, afforded sweeping views of New York Harbor, which brought an added piquancy to the proceeding. The event was webcast via the Internet Society Chapters Webcasting Channel with real-time captioning.

IGF-USA Post-WCIT Roundtable Discussion at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC on December 21 2012.
The Roundtable participants were from the IGF-USA Steering Group who attended the ITU World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) in Dubai including Ambassador Phil Verveer, US State Department, and representatives of the civil society; business, and technical communities, and was open to the public – either in person or via phone bridge. This event focused on implications for Internet Governance (IG) and how to advance the effectiveness of the IGF and the IGF-USA in addressing key issues highlighted during the WCIT, but which are clearly in the IG space.
