On Thursday 23 April 2026, at 18:00-18:30 UTC the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will host a webinar ‘The Rise and Fall of Undelegated TLDs: The Impact of a Global Misconfiguration.’

In April 2024, an unexpected string suddenly dominated the Domain Name System (DNS) magnitude list, generating traffic on par with major Top Level Domains (TLDs) due to a minor misconfiguration in a widely used global tool. The spike surpassed nearly all active top-level domains while going largely unnoticed. This talk explains how the anomaly occurred and how it was quickly resolved.

isoc.liveOn Thursday August 10 2023 at 17:00pm CEST (15:00 UTC) Realtime Register and eco’s topDNS Initiative host a webinar ‘topDNS Best Practice Series: How to investigate Online Abuse with Free Tools‘. This is the third in a series of topDNS best practice webinars to showcase what the domain name industry is doing to fight DNS abuse.

The webinar is aimed at beginners but is also interesting for advanced abuse desk managers, and will show an approach to get started quickly using free tools, so that abuse service staff can take action and understand some basic techniques . This is not intended to encourage a ‘do-it-yourself’ approach over the use of commercial products. However, a basic knowledge of investigations and processes involved is useful for anyone working in the field of online abuse mitigation.
