October 30 2022: The Khunde Community Network is officially handed over to the community. The world’s highest community network brings connectivity to Khunde (3880m) and Khumjung (3740m) villages situated within the Sagarmatha National Park in Nepal.
On Tuesday 1 November 2022 the UK Internet Governance Forum 2022 will be held in London. The UK Internet Governance Forum (UK IGF) is the national IGF for the United Kingdom. he purpose of IGFs is to facilitate a common understanding of how to maximise the opportunities of the internet whilst mitigating the risks and challenges that the internet presents. On Friday October 21 2022 at 11:30-13:00 AST (15:30-17:00 UTC) the Collectivity of Saint Martin will host the official launch of Smart-IX – the Saint Martin Internet Exchange Point. This new IXP is part of the CaribIX project, launched in March 2022, which has already established an IXP in St Saint Barthélemy, and aims to also set up IXPs in Saint Maarten and Guadeloupe, promising to deliver better Internet speed, security and service quality across the region. The launch will be followed by the signing of an IXP memorandum of understanding, which signifies the willingness of the first IXP participants to begin peering. More participants are expected to join as Smart-IX continues to develop and grow.

On 24 to 28 October 2022 the Indigenous Connectivity Institute will host the Indigenous Connectivity Summit 2022 (ICS 2022). The Indigenous Connectivity Summit brings together Indigenous community members, leaders, network operators, researchers and policymakers with a common goal: to connect Indigenous communities to fast, affordable and sustainable internet. The 2022 ICS is led by the newly-formed Indigenous Connectivity Institute, an initiative incubated by Connect Humanity, and co-organized in partnership with the Internet Society.
This meeting will review progress and achievements made in the Decade (2013-2022), foster consensus on new strategic directions, and renew commitments by ESCAP members and associate members to disability rights and disability-inclusive development in the Asia-Pacific region, leading up to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
