On Tuesday March 6 July 2021 at 13:00-14:00 UTC the Internet Society hosts a webinar ‘Moving towards an Interconnected Africa Report Launch‘. In 2010, the Africa Internet technical community embraced the 80/20 Initiative – an ambitious vision to have 80% of all Internet traffic locally accessible with only 20% being sourced internationally by 2020. In this webinar we will try to understand what has changed across the continent during this period and what lessons can we draw from this initiative going forward using the findings from our latest study, “Moving Toward an Interconnected Africa: The 80/20 Initiative”.

This innovative program will expand reliable and fast broadband connections in subsidized, privately-owned affordable housing across New York State. The program will provide the State of New York with a roadmap to leverage recent and future federal stimulus funding for broadband connectivity in affordable housing. In this session, the program partners will discuss the current state of broadband access in New York State and the program design process and approach. The webinar will be the starting point of an expansive engagement process to identify broadband infrastructure needs and inform solutions to overcome implementation and adoption challenges.
