WEBCAST SEP 14 – A11yNYC – Voice Content, Multimodal Accessibility, and the Story of Ask GeorgiaGov

livestreamOn Tuesday September 14 2021 at 3pm EDT (19:00 UTC) the Accessibility NYC Meetup (A11yNYC) hosts an online meetup ‘Voice Content, Multimodal Accessibility, and the Story of Ask GeorgiaGov‘.

Screen readers have long unlocked written web content for people with disabilities, though still rooted in the strictures and limitations of the visual medium the web represents. Increasingly, Blind technologists are looking to voice interfaces and voice content as conduits that deliver information in time rather than space — and in the speech and sound rather than unwieldy windows. Can voice interfaces offer compelling alternatives for communities of people with disabilities when it comes to web content and websites writ large?

Preston So, author of ‘Voice Content and Usability‘ will take us on a tour through the assistive potential voice interfaces and voice content unlock, with insight from Ask GeorgiaGov, among the first content-driven voice interfaces in existence and the first conversational interface built for residents of the state of Georgia.

The meetup will be webcast live via a partnership with the Internet Society Accessibility SIG.
