  WEBCAST DEC 1 – #IGF2022 Lightning Talk – A Framework for Internet Resilience 

  On Thursday December 1 2022 at 07:15-07:45 UTC the Internet Society presents a workshop ‘A Framework for Internet Resilience‘ at the Internet Governance Forum 2022.

  At the Internet Society, we believe that the Internet is for everyone. Our work centers on increasing the Internet’s reach, reliability and resilience, as well as ensuring that the Internet remains open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy. In Africa, ISOC has been carrying out and supporting many activities to help grow the Internet in Africa including supporting Community Networks, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), increasing technical capacity and building communities of practice.

  In addition, identifying areas to improve Internet resiliency via measurements has been carried out with the data publicly available on ISOC’s Pulse platform . Internet Resilience measurements have given a glimpse on areas whose improvement would improve the reliability of Internet connectivity in Africa. Could a framework document around improving resilience help regulators in providing an environment that supports the growth of a resilient Internet at national level? Join this lightning talk that will discuss the approach to an Internet Resilience framework document that ISOC is helping to develop for regulators that could help improve Internet access in the region

  WEBCAST THU: Measuring the Internet in Africa Project (MIRA) Quarterly Update #InternetResilience 

  On Thursday 16 September 2021 at 13:00 UTC the Measuring the Internet in Africa (MIRA) project will hold its first quarterly update meeting. The project uses Internet measurements gathered by measurement devices called MIRA pods, which are located within African countries, to 1) Determine levels of Internet resilience in African countries over time by recording specific metrics, including throughput and latency (the time it takes to reach various Internet destinations); 2) Increase the number of Internet measurement vantage points in Africa, i.e., the places from which measurements are taken; 3) Make the data available to everyone, everywhere on the Internet Society’s Pulse platform.

  During this one hour webinar, topics include: The MIRA Internet Resilience Index; MIRA Pods deployment and hosting; MIRA Pods data visualization

  MIRA is a joint initiative between African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) and the Internet Society.

  Africa Internet Resilience #7 – Digital Solutions for Health Services and the Medical Industry during the COVID-19 Pandemic | «Solutions numériques pour les systèmes de santé et le secteur médical durant le COVID-19» 

  On Thursday October 15 2020 at 10:00 UTC the African Union Commission (AU) and the Internet Society (ISOC), in collaboration with Huawei, present a webinar ‘Digital Solutions for Health Services and the Medical Industry during the COVID-19 Pandemic‘. This, the seventh and last webinar of the African Internet Resilience series, will explore how Africa can build on the digital revolution in the health care sector to deliver solutions to fight against COVID-19. The webinar will strive to identify health care problems that can be solved by Internet-based solutions and showcase and encourage innovative solutions to improve health care during the pandemic.
