Ms Miloshevic was joined by Diplo’s Cybersecurity expert Vladimir Radunovic to draw on the findings of her research, and to reflect on ways in which the recent developments have had an impact the issue of trust. On Tuesday June 14 2015, the U.S. House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Communications and Technologyheld a hearing FCC Overreach: Examining the Proposed Privacy Rules. The hearing follows up on a letter sent to FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler regarding the agency’s proposed privacy and data breach notification requirements for broadband ISPs. The FTC had its jurisdiction removed when the FCC reclassified broadband as a common carrier. The letter suggests the FCC’s making a separate set of rules governing only ISPs, and not other parts of the Internet ecosystem, would “create confusion and harm competition”.
