Seasoned accessibility experience designer Irina Morozova explored how thoughtful content and design can reduce barriers for people with limited English proficiency, especially when navigating everyday tasks. Clear language practices, cognitive load reduction, accessibility techniques from avoiding idioms to optimizing readability and multimodal content, were all discussed.
On Saturday 5th April 2025, at 14:30 IST (09:00 UTC) Internet Society India Mumbai Chapter (ISOC Mumbai) presents ‘Vision for Accessible Internet: Bridging the Digital Divide for the Visually Impaired‘. Automated tooling (sometimes called Continuous Accessibility) is a proven way to boost software quality at scale. What options exist to apply Continuous Accessibility concepts to make progress against today’s accessibility maturity models? Process gets a bad rap. When employed effectively, solid processes are what allow organizations to repeatedly achieve desired outcomes. Web accessibility is no different.

PAC NYC is a new performing arts venue in Lower Manhattan that required the digital platforms from scratch. While this was a unique and exciting opportunity to follow best practices in accessibility from the beginning, it did come with some challenges unique to startup environments. Vlado Vince and Natalie Kertes will describe iterative accessibility improvements through the whole design process, from the initial website vendor selection through launch and subsequent feature releases.
On Tuesday July 16, 2024 at 7:30pm-8:30pm EDT (23:30-00:30 UTC) the Accessibility NYC Meetup (A11yNYC) hosts a meetup ‘Mobile Accessibility Tools: Camera Switches and More‘. The presentation will focus on specific interesting and potentially very useful accessibility options on the Android and iOS platforms. These include Facial Gesture Recognition, Accessibility Scanner, and more. New York Times Games engineer Shafik Quoraishee will highlight the use of hardware switches, specifically camera switches, on mobile devices. This technology goes beyond just Talkbalk and provides a powerful and potentially untapped capability to those who need it and are using mobile devices.
Since many of us get confused between ‘Access’ to Internet and ‘Accessibility’ which is more related to providing a barrier free environment to disabled, this seminar holds the key to Accessibility, how to develop Accessible content, and how to validate and test the Accessibility of the content. This two hour seminar will also have an interactive Q&A session in the end to clarify any apprehensions or doubts the audience may have related to Accessibility.
