  WEBCAST SEP 13 – A11yNYC – Assistive Technology for Kids with Multiple Disabilities – Chau Nguyen 

  On Tuesday Sep 13 2022 at 5:30pm-6:30pm EDT (21:30-22:30 UTC) the Accessibility NYC Meetup (A11yNYC) hosts ‘Assistive Technology for Kids with Multiple Disabilities‘. When we think about accessible video games, most of us might think about adaptations such as the Xbox adaptive controller. However, this leaves out a large population of people who access games and activities through other adaptive means. Chau Nguyen of iHOPE will review how play can be impacted by disabilities related to brain injuries and how they are adapted in ways that are less explored.

  The meetup will be webcast live via a partnership with the Internet Society New York Accessibility SIG

  18th Caribbean Internet Governance Forum and Caribbean Youth IGF Workshop in collaboration with Small Island Developing States (SIDS) IGF 

  On Wednesday 24 August, 2022 – Friday 26 August, 2022 the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) will host the 18th Caribbean Internet Governance Forum (CIGF) online. This year, the 18th CIGF will feature a Caribbean Youth IGF (CYIGF) and the CIGF will also be held jointly with the inaugural Internet Governance Forum for Small Island Developing States (SIDS IGF). Having been discussed as a goal of the DC-SIDS for quite a few years, the SIDS IGF was catalysed by an intervention and offer of support by the CTU SG in 2021. Support for the idea grew given the realisation that SIDS worldwide share similar development challenges and there existed no collective IG forum that addressed SIDS-specific issues. The theme of CIGF 2022 is “Caribbean Internet Governance Priorities for Post-COVID ICT-Driven Development.”

    Kindly support me in anyway be able to establish the first computer laboratory for blind children in the rural heart of SOROTI Uganda. We are making bricks and will provide all raw materials. What we are lacking is money for payment of skilled labour and iron sheets and mortar.

  WEBCAST AUG 23-25 – African Peering and Interconnection Forum / Le Forum africain sur le peering et l’interconnexion (AfPIF) 2022 

  On Tuesday-Thursday August 23-25 2022 the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) 2022 will convene in Kigali, Rwanda. An open and inclusive forum, AfPIF focuses on developing Internet interconnection and traffic exchange opportunities by bringing together key players – infrastructure providers, Internet service providers (ISPs), Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), content producers and providers, data center operators, policy-makers and regulators, to advance the peering ecosystem in Africa.

  AfPIF aims to promote the development of national and cross border interconnection and offers the African technical community a unique opportunity to showcase interconnection challenges and opportunities.

  This year’s forum marks a return to in-person sessions since its postponement in 2020 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

  On Wednesday September 7 2022 at 5pm-6pm EDT (21:00-22:00 UTC) the Interplanetary Networking Special Interest Group (IPNSIG) presents the fifth IPNSIG Academy presentation. ‘Enabling Space Exploration by Using AI to Improve Data Communication‘.

  Traditionally, space data processing and exploitation occurs through ground systems when satellites are overhead to download the data. That takes time, which we may not have, particularly with constellations with hundreds of spacecraft data to process or which require the application of AI on vast amounts of data. This talk will discuss the application of AI to aid space exploration while increasing space link efficiency, utilization and robustness by enabling more reliable and efficient data transmissions resulting in more usable bandwidth.
