  VIDEO – Naveed Haq Keynote at IEEE CTU Summit 2024 – Everest Community Network 

  On October 14, 2024,  Internet Society Regional Infrastructure and Connectivity Director Naveed Haq delivered a keynote speech at the IEEE Connecting The Unconnected (CTU) Summit 2024 in Dubai. His presentation, lavishly augmented with photos and video, centered on the deployment of the Everest Community Network , in partnership the Nepal Internet Foundation. At 3,800 meters above sea level this is the the highest such network in the world, bringing high speed Internet to the remote Sherpa villages of Khunde and Khumjung, whose nearest road access is a two-week hike away.

  Built with participation of village residents, and sustained by trained local engineers, a school lab, a hospital, and local lodges are all now successfully connected, enhancing education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

  WEBCAST – Philippines Peering Forum 

  On Thursday 24 June 2021 at 15:00-16:30 PST (07:00-08:30 UTC) the Internet Society and the Philippine Network Operator Group (PhNOG) host the 2021 Philippines Peering Forum. As a pre-event leading to the Virtual PhNOG 2.0 conference in July, this event will host deliberations on peering and interconnection development in Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Philippines, and will consider the recent report ‘Effective IXP strategies for the Asia-Pacific‘.

  WEBCAST TUE-THU – #Afghanistan Internet Governance Forum #IGFA2017 

  The first annual Internet Governance Forum Afghanistan (IGFA) is taking place on March 29 and March 30, 2017 in Kabul, Afghanistan. It is in fact a 3 day event as Tuesday March 28 “Day 0” includes additional educational workshops. Organized by the ISOC Afghanistan Chapter, the conference is mostly in English, and is being webcast live on the Internet Society Livestream Channel. Kabul is UTC+4.5, so 8.5 hours ahead of NYC.
