WEBCAST MAR 19 – Using data for accountability: Lessons learned from the Oversight Board’s impact

ISOC LIVEOn Tuesday March 19, 2024 at 12:00-13:00 EDT (16:00-17:00 UTC) the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) presents ‘Using data for accountability: Lessons learned from the Oversight Board’s impact‘.

As social media regulation comes into force around the world, regulators are increasingly narrowing down on the type of data they need to hold platforms accountable and ensure users are treated fairly.

The Oversight Board, an independent body created by Meta in 2020 to make binding decisions and policy recommendations, has been working for the past two years to create a data-driven approach to hold the company accountable and ensure that users feel the impact of its recommendations. In this discussion, Oversight Board Head of Data & Implementation and DFRLab Non-Resident Fellow Naomi Shiffman presents lessons learned from the Board’s work, followed by a panel discussion.
