On September 18, 2025, Wireless Future at New America and the International Center for Law & Economics (ICLE) presented an online panel discussion ‘Boosting LEO Satellite Capacity: Is the FCC’s Launch on Target?‘. Nearly 12,000 satellites now orbit Earth, led by SpaceX’s 7,800 Starlinks and Amazon’s Kuiper, with tens of thousands more planned. The FCC faces critical decisions on spectrum sharing, balancing protection for existing geostationary satellites and wireless services against policies to expand LEO capacity and access.
