WEBCAST OCT 19-21 – High-level Intergovernmental Meeting on the Final Review of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022
On Wednesday to Friday October 19-21 2022 the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will host the High-level Intergovernmental Meeting on the Final Review of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022 in Jakarta.
In 2012 ESCAP member States proclaimed the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022, and adopted the Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific, the world’s first set of disability-specific development goals. In 207 the Beijing Declaration was adopted to provide guidance on further advancing disability-inclusive development.
This meeting will review progress and achievements made in the Decade (2013-2022), foster consensus on new strategic directions, and renew commitments by ESCAP members and associate members to disability rights and disability-inclusive development in the Asia-Pacific region, leading up to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
