@INTERNETSOCIETY AND OTHER ONLINE EVENTS THIS WEEK #isoccf2016, #GenevaEngage, #beyondthenet, #opengov #civictech unconference
The next 3 days January 26-28 2016 provide multiple opportunities for Internet Society members to participate in online events. First and foremost is our Q1 Community Forum on Wednesday, where Kathy Brown will define 2016 as the Year of Member Action, and there will be briefings by top ISOC staff as toward what issues that action might be directed. Of course some actions cost money, so on Thursday there will be two Beyond the Net Info Sessions, which will educate on the processes by which Chapter and Member Projects can be funded.
On Tuesday our GIP colleagues will provide their monthly Digital Watch Internet Governance Update, looking forward at 2016. On Wednesday and Thursday they will mount a major conference on e-Participation – Geneva Engage – focusing on the practicalities of running connected events, and ISOC’s own Todd Tolbert will weigh in with lessons learned from the production of ISOC’s massive InterCommunity event in 2015.
New online tools are changing online collaboration for the better. Already ISOC has adopted Zoom as its conference platform of choice. Many of us are also using Slack within our teams. So lastly, on Thursday, for those interested in seeing how far such tools can take us, there will be a big OpenGov & CivicTech Online Unconference using both Slack and Zoom, and also QiqoChat.

I never saw this until now. Do you post events like this every week? I’m definitely interested in checking these out and connecting with anyone who may attend, it could be very useful!

Hi Adam,
It is an ambition of mine to post media digests on a more frequent and regular basis. I’m working on getting it into my workflow. Certainly posting separate items is a bit of a chore and fills people’s inboxes. I trust you have joined ISOC-NY and thus are on our announce list.
