Wikipedia Goes to the Movies: Library Edit-a-thon this Saturday 12/1 @wikimedianyc #editathon
Wikipedia Goes to the Movies is an edit-a-thon, Wikipedia meet-up and workshop that will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, as part of the Wikipedia Loves Libraries global campaign, as a direct successor to last year’s smash hit Wikipedia:The Musical.
- Address: 40 Lincoln Center Plaza (64th St. between Broadway and Amsterdam avenues). Directions: Go towards the back of the plaza, around to the right of the Met opera house and just left of the Vivian Beaumont Theatre.
- Phone: (917) 275-6975
- Time: Noon – 5 p.m.
- Room: The Reserve Film & Video Screening Room on the Third Floor
Stay for the afternoon or drop in at any time between 12pm and 5 PM. NYPL staff will be on hand to provide information and instruction on using our collections. Volunteer Wikipedians will be present to provide support and instruction on editing Wikipedia. (Bring a laptop if you have one.)
The goal will be to improve Wikipedia articles and content related to WikiProject Film.
**Note**: We are encouraging a very broad scope for the development of Wikipedia subtopics that can intersect between your interests and the history of cinema/performing arts. For example, since this coincides with World AIDS Day, there will be someone there working on HIV/AIDS in film, and we invite and will provide assistance with whatever subtopics along these lines that you would like to get working on.
