On Wednesday 13 May 2026, at 16:00 UTC, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), the Internet Service Providers and Connectivity Providers Constituency (ISPCP) and the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC), host a webinar ‘Implementing DNS Blocking Responsibly‘.

Blocking domains that are maliciously used can protect users, but it raises questions about accuracy, due process, and unintended collateral effects. This session unpacks best practices and SSAC’s latest guidance on responsible blocking, ensuring balance between security and trust, including key take-aways from the latest SSAC document on this topic.

On April 15, 2026, ICANN’s Internet Service Providers and Connectivity Providers Constituency (ISPCP) held a webinar ‘The New gTLD Program 2026 and the Future of the DNS Ecosystem‘. The session, one of an ongoing series of DNS Training Webinars for ISPs, will provided an overview of the forthcoming New gTLD Program and examined key technical and policy challenges, including string collisions and the management of variant labels, both of which influence DNS security and stability. It also explored the evolving role of blockchain domains and Web3 naming systems, assessing how they intersect with – and potentially reshape – the traditional DNS.
