The day-long event will focus on artificial intelligence, journalism and the future of the Wikimedia movement.

On the last Sunday of every month, the Boardroom at Ace Hotel New Yorkhosts Action Equals History — a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to learn hands-on in a technology training/workshop session about the mechanics, practices and benefits of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history. For this month, and following on the recent Art+Feminism campaign, we’ll focus on building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. Towards a goal of advancing these tools for wider use with diverse local groups. The Enterprise MediaWiki Conference Spring 2016, or EMWCon Spring 2016, will be held Wednesday to Friday, May 25-27, 2016, in NYC. It will be a three-day conference featuring discussions of topics related to “Enterprise MediaWiki”, i.e. the usage of MediaWiki software by and within companies, non-profits, governments and other organizations. The first two days’ presentations will be streamed live on the Internet Society Livestream Channel. The third day “creative camp’ workshops will not be streamed.

Today, Sunday March 22 2015, WikiMedia NYC will host Wikipedia Day NYC 2015 – a celebration and mini-conference for the project’s 14th birthday – at Barnard College in NYC. There will be many and varied open space sessions for every interest from beginners to experienced editors. Following up on the recent Black Lives Matter Edit-a-thon, there will be a link up with the Afrocrowd initiative. Similarly following up on the Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon – MoMA 2015 there will be an emphasis on extending coverage of the collections of NYC’s museums. The event will include two plenary panels and a lightning talks session, all of which will be webcast live via the Internet Society Livestream Channel.

On Sunday July 6 2014 Wikimedia NYC Chapter will hold it’s Annual General Meeting. The meeting will be followed by the local edition of the Great American Wiknic, an annual wiki-picnic held in cities across the United States on or around a common day every summer. The picnicking area is the southwest section of the Great Lawn, north of the Delacorte Theater. The picnic will last from 1 PM to 8 PM. As a wiki-picnic, it’s the “picnic anyone can edit” – which means potluck.
