livestreamPart celebration and part conference, the Wikipedia Day 18th Birthday Bash will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Ace Hotel New York, hosted by Wikimedia NYC. One of a number of Wikipedia Days worldwide, the day will feature keynote presentations, breakout group discussions, lightning talks and yes, for those present, cake. More than 150 people are expected to join conversations about Wikimedia and allied projects presented by Free Culture Alliance NYC partners. It will be a three-day conference featuring discussions of topics related to “Enterprise MediaWiki”, i.e. the usage of MediaWiki software by and within companies, non-profits, governments and other organizations. Wikimedia NYCThe Wikipedia Day 12th Birthday Bash NYC is a celebration and mini-conference to be held on Saturday February 23, 2012, hosted at ITP at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and also supported by Wikimedia New York City, Free Culture @ NYU and other Free Culture Alliance NYC partners (which include ISOC-NY). The NYC celebration is one of a number of Wikipedia Day events being held in the United States and worldwide. Participation (and pizza and cake!) will be free, with room for ~100 participants, who should bring a photo ID for the door. All are welcome, and newcomers are especially invited to drop by to join the experienced Wikipedians/Wikimedians. In addition to the party, the event will be a modified unconference, with dedicated plenary sessions, lightning talks, and open space sessions.

Liam Wyatt of Wikipedia presenting on an innovative proposal for analyzing copyright and licensing in art museums. Each session is one hour and is open to everyone interested in the issues.

SPEAKER: Liam Wyatt
Liam Wyatt is the Vice President of Wikimedia Australia and an info-philanthropy advocate. He received the University of New South Wales medal in history for his thesis on the Academic Lineage of Wikipedia. He works to try to find the common ground between the museum, education and Wikimedia communities. Previously he was the multimedia coordinator for the Dictionary of Sydney and Project officer for the Australasian Legal Information Institute. Liam will be visiting Columbia after a stop in Denver, where he will be leading the Wikimedia session as part of the “Museums and the Web” conference. He is en route to London, where he will be the inaugural “Wikipedian in Residence” at the British Museum.
