Wikiday NYC 2016On Saturday January 16, 2016 Wikimedia NYC will celebrate Wikipedia’s 15th Birthday with a miniconference, hosted by NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program at the Tisch School of the Arts,  supported by the Free Culture Alliance NYC (including ISOC-NY). Topics include Wikidata, Education & Editathons, Lightning Talks, and many inconference sessions. From 4pm-5pm there wil be a live link up with some of the many other similar events taking place worldwide. Attendance is free. Food will be provided. Free Culture Alliance BYCThe Wiki World’s Fair / Free Culture World’s Fair will be held on Governors Island in beautiful New York Harbor on Saturday July 7 (raindate: Sunday July 8 ) as part of the Great American Wiknic, and in welcoming international visitors for Wikimania Takes Manhattan.

The event will combine a wiki-picnic and civic celebration in the area of the FIGMENT participatory art festival‘s arcade-themed artist-designed minigolf course, sculpture garden, and treehouse.

The celebration will be led by Wikimedians and Free Culture Alliance NYC, with DIY fair pavilions (bamboo poles to be provided!) for numerous represented Wikiverse and Free Culture initiatives.
