isoc liveOn Wednesday August 16, 2023 at 13:15-14:30 EDT (17:15-18:30 UTC) the Marconi Society will host a member event “Fifty Years Ago and In the Future“. Fifty years ago, Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn sketched out ARPA’s TCP/IP internetworking protocol, the foundation for the Internet, Marty Cooper made the first cellphone call, and Federico Faggin led the development of the “8008,” the first 8-bit microprocessor that sparked the personal computing revolution. Each of these innovators – all Marconi Fellows – is still working hard to create the future. Attend this landmark event to hear stories, insights, and predictions for the future, in an open discussion with questions and answers.

WEBCAST MAY 30 – IPNSIG Academy Architecture and Governance Workshop

ISOC LIVE

ISOC LIVEOn Tuesday May 30 2023 at 5pm-6pm EDT (21:00-22:00 UTC) the Interplanetary Networking Special Interest Group (IPNSIG) presents the IPNSIG Academy ‘Architecture and Governance Workshop’.

Today, as several initiatives, including the Government, Space Agencies, and the private sector, expand communication capabilities off the planet, to the Moon, Mars, and beyond, it is the time to discuss how a “Common Interplanetary Network Infrastructure” could be realized, which entails the need for Governance – a management structure to support the operation of the infrastructure itself.

The IPNSIG Architecture and Governance Working Group (AWG) has tackled these important subjects by reflecting on the lessons learned from the Internet’s evolution, and from insights provided by our past Academy speakers. This session will examine the progress and prospects in this field.

WEBCAST SEP 7 – Interplanetary Networking Special Interest Group (IPNSIG) Academy Talk 5: Enabling Space Exploration by Using AI to Improve Data Communication – Larissa Suzuki

isoc live

isoc liveOn Wednesday September 7 2022 at 5pm-6pm EDT (21:00-22:00 UTC) the Interplanetary Networking Special Interest Group (IPNSIG) presents the fifth IPNSIG Academy presentation. ‘Enabling Space Exploration by Using AI to Improve Data Communication‘.

Traditionally, space data processing and exploitation occurs through ground systems when satellites are overhead to download the data. That takes time, which we may not have, particularly with constellations with hundreds of spacecraft data to process or which require the application of AI on vast amounts of data. This talk will discuss the application of AI to aid space exploration while increasing space link efficiency, utilization and robustness by enabling more reliable and efficient data transmissions resulting in more usable bandwidth.
