On Wednesday, 23 September 2026, at 11:00–12:00 EDT (15:00–16:00 UTC), the Marconi Society hosts an exclusive, 60-minute webinar ‘From Theory to Reality: The Next Era of Quantum Error Correction‘, featuring some of the most influential minds in quantum information science: Robert Calderbank, David DiVincenzo, Earl Campbell, and Nicolas Delfosse. Quantum computers promise to solve some of the world’s most intractable problems, but they share a fundamental vulnerability: quantum states are incredibly fragile. This rare assembly brings together the foundational pioneers of quantum error correction (QEC) and the leading architects of today’s cutting-edge fault-tolerant architectures.
From the invention of CSS codes and the establishment of the DiVincenzo criteria to modern breakthroughs in magic state distillation and ultra-fast decoding algorithms, this panel will explore the evolution of QEC. The speakers will discuss real-world engineering and theoretical challenges of scaling quantum hardware, the transition from NISQ (Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum) to fault-tolerant regimes, and the most promising codes and decoders being developed today.
