WEBCAST AUG 10 – topDNS Best Practice Series: How to investigate Online Abuse with Free Tools

isoc.live

isoc.liveOn Thursday August 10 2023 at 17:00pm CEST (15:00 UTC) Realtime Register and eco’s topDNS Initiative host a webinar ‘topDNS Best Practice Series: How to investigate Online Abuse with Free Tools‘. This is the third in a series of topDNS best practice webinars to showcase what the domain name industry is doing to fight DNS abuse.

The webinar is aimed at beginners but is also interesting for advanced abuse desk managers, and will show an approach to get started quickly using free tools, so that abuse service staff can take action and understand some basic techniques . This is not intended to encourage a ‘do-it-yourself’ approach over the use of commercial products. However, a basic knowledge of investigations and processes involved is useful for anyone working in the field of online abuse mitigation.

WEBCAST JUL 13 – topDNS Best Practice Series: Standards and Frameworks for Evidencing Abuse Online

isoc live

isoc liveOn Thursday July 13 2023 at 17:00 CEST (15:00 UTC) CleanDNS and eco’s topDNS Initiative host a webinar ‘topDNS Best Practice Series: Standards and Frameworks for Evidencing Abuse Online‘. This is the second in a series of topDNS best practice webinars to showcase what the domain name industry is doing to fight DNS abuse.

Fighting abuse online is first and foremost a matter of taking appropriate action, taken by the appropriate party, taken at the appropriate time. Speaking of time, reducing the uptime of maliciously used domain names is crucial. But how can the decision-making process be standardized to make clear decisions, make the decision-making process scalable and also balance the expectations between the sender and the receiver of abuse reports? Jeffrey Bedser, CEO of CleanDNS will explain how standardized evidencing allows for rapid correlation and mitigation of abused domains by the appropriate party, how evidencing thresholds can be established and how online harms can be addressed via standardized evidence packages.

WEBCAST JUN 6 – topDNS Best Practice Series: How to reduce Abuse through Quality

ISOC LIVE

ISOC LIVEOn Tuesday June 6 2023 at 15:00 UTC Public Interest Registry (PIR), Realtime Register, & eco’s topDNS Initiative host a webinar ‘topDNS Best Practice Series: How to reduce Abuse through Quality‘. This is the first in a series of topDNS best practice webinars to showcase what the domain name industry is doing to fight DNS abuse.

In 2019 PIR launched an incentive program with domain registrars to combat DNS abuse and improve the quality of the .ORG domain space. The concept is to improve the quality of registered domain names, resulting in higher renewal rates for expiring domain names (a key financial goal for registrars). The program provides registrars with tools and best practices to improve the quality of registered .org domains and creates a “Quality Performance Index” (QPI) scorecard to measure results. Our speakers will discuss the why, how, and results of implementing QPI.
