On Friday November 21, 2025, at 10:00-11:30 EST (15:00-16:30 UTC) the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Chair on India and Emerging Asia Economics , Project on Prosperity and Development hosts a hybrid event ‘Redundancy, Resiliency, and Repair: Securing Subsea Cable Infrastructure‘in Washington DC. Subsea fiber-optic cables are critical infrastructure that underpin global communications and digital transactions. With the AI revolution, increased digital connectivity, and growing threats to underwater infrastructure, the resiliency and integrity of cables is more important than ever. Following a series of case studies earlier in the year  – Ireland |Japan | Singapore | Egypt – CSIS is promising a comprehensive report that analyzes the global subsea cable ecosystem, along with its main threats.

On Thursday May 23 2013 the Internet Society’s Greater Washington Chapter (ISOC DC) along withe the Center for Strategic and International Studies presented The Geopolitics of Internet Governance. The international landscape calls for a more compelling narrative for internet governance than the US–centric one inherited from the ‘90s. Will it be possible to accommodate non-western state’s (this is much more than China and Russia) desire for a larger role for governments without throwing the multi-stakeholder model and (more importantly) human rights overboard? A distinguished panel pondered this question and more. The event was webcast live by the Internet Society’s North America Bureau.
