On April 15, 2026, ICANN’s Internet Service Providers and Connectivity Providers Constituency (ISPCP) held a webinar ‘The New gTLD Program 2026 and the Future of the DNS Ecosystem‘. The session, one of an ongoing series of DNS Training Webinars for ISPs, will provided an overview of the forthcoming New gTLD Program and examined key technical and policy challenges, including string collisions and the management of variant labels, both of which influence DNS security and stability. It also explored the evolving role of blockchain domains and Web3 naming systems, assessing how they intersect with – and potentially reshape – the traditional DNS.

VIDEO – Web3 & IP: Understanding the NFT and IP Connection

ISOC LIVE

ISOC LIVEOn Wednesday January 25 2023 the Decentralized Future Council, Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web, and Internet Education Foundation presented a panel ‘Web3 & IP: Understanding the NFT and IP Connection‘ to discuss NFTs’ connection to IP and its impact on technological innovation and civil society.

Are NFTs disrupting IP rights? What is the NFT & IP connection? Senators Tillis and Leahy have asked for a study on NFTs and IP rights and, in response, the USPTO and the Copyright Office are holding roundtables and have released a Notice of Inquiry. New decentralized technologies are challenging the definition and scope of IP protections while empowering and inspiring small and large creators alike. What does this mean for intellectual property policy?

WEBCAST OCT 21: Internet Policy Wars 3.0 / Is The Past A Prologue To The Fight For Web3?

livestream

livestreamOn Thursday October 21 2021 at 3:00-4:00pm EDT (19:00-20:00 UTC) the Congressional Internet Caucus Academy hosts a webinar ‘Internet Policy Wars 3.0 / Is The Past A Prologue To The Fight For Web3?‘.

At the dawn of Web 1.0 policymakers nearly quashed the Internet with legislation such as the Communications Decency Act and key escrow. Many policy experts fear the same cycle has begun at the advent of Web 3.0. The clumsy cryptocurrency language in the Infrastructure Bill laid bare the lack of policymaker awareness of the broader “Web3” ecosystem. Our panel will draw parallels between mistakes made in the 1990s and why policymakers must better understand the promise and potential of Web 3.0.
