WEBCAST JAN 19 – CITI Webinar – Whither the Internet Governance Forum?

ISOC LOn Thursday January 19 2023 at 11:00-12:30 EST (16:00-17:30 UTC) the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information presents a webinar ‘Whither the Internet Governance Forum?‘. There’s been much debate both within the IGF ecosystem and among governments (including EU heads of state), and in UN SG Guterres’ Global Digital Compact process, about the future of the IGF and whether and how it could be institutionally reformed to enhance its outputs and make them more politically salient. In 2025 the UN GA will decide on whether to renew the IGF’s mandate as part of its WSIS+20 review process. An expert panel will explore the options and prognosis.

WEBCAST TUE/WED: Latin America and Caribbean Regional Internet and Development Dialogue #lacridd

livestreamOn Tuesday-Wednesday November 8-9 2016 the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Internet and Development Dialogue (LACRIDD) will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The conference will consist of opening and closing sessions, plenary sessions as well as panel discussions. With the theme ‘The Internet of Opportunity: Building a sustainable future through an inclusive Internet‘ LACRIDD will have a one and half day program covering a range of topical issues related to Internet and Development in the LAC region. Special attention will be given to the transformational potential of ICT and Internet for SDGs, as well as mainstreaming gender within topical discussions. The conference will offer open high-level discussions addressing the following dimensions: Connecting the Next Billion; ICTs and Sustainable Development; Digital Economy. A webcast is available via the Internet Society Livestream Channel. Buenos Aires is 2 hrs ahead of NYC (UTC-3).

Topics include: 1) A regional update the Latin American and Caribbean region: 2) Some of the top issues related to Internet Technology; 3) A review about where we are on the Internet Governance debate featuring data from the recently completed ISOC survey on the topic; 4) Details about our upcoming global virtual event: InterCommunity 2015. Arab IGF 2014Today and tomorrow November 26 – 27 2014 the third annual meeting of the Arab Internet Governance Forum (AIGF-III) is taking place in Beirut, Lebanon. Arab IGF tackles a wide spectrum of issues of regulatory and policy nature within the sphere of Internet industry and Internet use, including: accelerating broadband penetration; development of its applications; promoting local content; user rights; policies for critical Internet resources; cybersecurity; protecting privacy; youth and the Internet; and innovation enabling Internet policies. Speakers include: Raul Echeberría, Vice President, Internet Society, and Richard Hill. Remote participation is possible via webex. Beirut is UTC+2 = 7 hours ahead of NYC.
