livestreamThe 8th Africa Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) takes place from 22-24 August, 2017 in Abidjan, Côte D’Ivoire. The event discusses regional interconnection dynamics and content issues that are critical components of transit deficits. As a multi-stakeholder forum, AfPIF seeks to foster cross-border interconnection opportunities by ensuring that key players — infrastructure providers, Internet service providers (ISPs), IXPs, international financial institutions, and policy-makers and regulators are present at the event. The event is being streamed live via the Internet Society livestream channel. Abidjan time is UTC thus 4 hours ahead of NYC.

Livestream On Monday/Tuesday May 8-9 2017 the Internet Society’s Africa Bureau will host the African Regional Internet and Development Dialogue (RIDD 2017) in Kigali, Rwanda. The conference has the theme – Enhancing Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Education in Africa through the Internet – and is part of the global series of Internet Development conferences organized by the Internet Society with the aim of supporting the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference will offer open high-level discussions addressing the following dimensions: Internet and SDGs; Connecting the Next Billion; African Internet Economy; Opportunities for Africa’s education. The plenary sessions will be webcast live via the Internet Society Livestream Channel. Kigali is UTC+2 – 6 hours ahead of NYC.

WEBCAST THURS / FRI – West and Central African Research and Education Network Conference #WACREN2016 in Dakar

livestreamOn March 17-18 2016 the 2nd Annual West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN) Conference, hosted by the Senegal Research and education Network (snRER), takes place at the Novotel Hotel, Dakar. This year’s conference brings together policy and decision makers, scientists, researchers, network managers, collaboration specialists, e-learning, identity and access management experts, and connectivity and equipment providers from across Africa and the rest of the world. the conference is preceeded by a series of workshops promoting e-Infrastructure development and open science in Africa. The 2nd TANDEM National and Regional Conferences and AfricaConnect2 coordination meetings are also colocated with the conference in a week of activities commencing on 14 March 2016 The main theme of the conference is: “Enabling Virtual Research and Education Communities“, with the following sub-themes: *Authentication and Authorization * Infrastructure (AAI) and Mobility *NREN Business and Governance Models *Innovation in R&E Networks *Network Design and Operation *Online Teaching and Learning Shared Experiences, *Best Practices and Collaboration”.
