On Thursday April 23 2026, at 15:00-16:30 CEST (13:00-14:30 UTC) the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Space Connect Series presents ‘Girls & Space: Pathways to the stars‘. As frontier technologies become embedded in critical space systems, ensuring that girls and young women participate in designing, operating, and governing these technologies is essential. This episode will spotlight women, including a young professional voice, working at the intersection of space systems, AI, and development, demonstrating that girls are not only beneficiaries of resilient connectivity, but the architects of its future.

The Talking Tech intergenerational interview series supports the Girls in ICT Day initiative and the EQUALS Global Partnership. Run by ITU with the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) and the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, it enables aspiring ICT professionals to interview and be interviewed by role models who are leaders in their field.

On February 3 2014 New York City Foundation for Computer Science Education CSNYC Education Meetup hosted Women in CS – How to get girls interested and involved at Union Square Ventures NYC. After brief pitches for programs Dream it Code It Win It and Technovation, there were presentations from Ashley Gavin, a Curriculum Consultant for Girls Who Code, and Ruthe Farmer, Director of Strategic Initiatives, National Center for Women & Information Technology. Finally there was a Q&A with a panel of NYC girl computer science students. Video is below.
