On December 16 2013 the Volumetric Society of NYC hosted New York EEG researchers/Parsons instructors Joel Murphy and Conor Russomanno presenting OpenBCI, An Opensource Brain Computer Initiative at Culture Lab NYC. OpenBCI is a low-cost, Arduino-compatible, open-source EEG platform that gives anybody with a computer access to the electrical signals emitted by their brain. The second version of the device is the subject of a current kickstarter campaign. The project is also supported by DARPA. The presentation includes a demo. Video is below:

VIDEO: Volumetric Society NYC – Measuring the Magic Of Mutual Gaze

On May 20 2013, in support of the Internet Society Augmented and Virtual Reality Chapter in formation, ISOC-NY joined the Volumetric Society of NYC for their event Measuring the Magic Of Mutual Gaze at the IMC Lab Gallery NYC. NYU neuroscientist Dr. Suzanne Dikker detailed a series of research experiments/art installations that explored synchrony between paired participants’ brainwave patterns. Her talk concluded with two live demonstrations, and was followed by some Q&A. Video is below.
