El IGF Uruguay es organizado por un comité compuesto por las siguientes organizaciones: Agencia para el Gobierno Electrónico y la Sociedad de la Información y la Comunicación (AGESIC), Internet Society Uruguay (ISOC Uy), IoT CyberSecLac (IoTcsLAC), Registro de Direcciones de Internet para América Latina y Caribe (LACNIC), Servicio Central de Informática de la Universidad de la República (SeCIU), Universidad Católica del Uruguay (UCU), Universidad Tecnológica del Uruguay (UTEC) y Jóvenes en Gobernanza de Internet Uruguay (Youth IGF Uruguay).

isoc liveEl 16 de noviembre de 2023 a las 10:00 COT (15:00 UTC), el Grupo de Trabajo de Infraestructura del Capítulo Colombia de Internet Society, LACNIC, y RIPE NCC presentan un seminario web ‘Fortaleciendo las Mediciones de Internet en Colombia‘.

Este Webinar consistirá en realizar una introducción inicial para la capacitación en la instalación de las sondas de medición ‘RIPE ATLAS‘, que es la red de medición de Internet más grande jamás creada. RIPE Atlas emplea una red global de sondas que miden la conectividad y la accesibilidad de Internet, lo que brinda una comprensión sin precedentes del estado de Internet en tiempo real.

Esta herramienta de medición también es homologada por LACNIC para realizar nuestras mediciones de Internet. Por lo que desde el capítulo de Internet Society Colombia y en alianza con LACNIC y RIPE NCC queremos capacitar, entregar las herramientas e insumos necesarios para que en nuestro país empecemos a hacer parte de esta gran red de mediciones y que conozcamos las ventajas que traerá alojar estas sondas en las diferentes redes de nuestro país para tener mayor visibilidad del tráfico local e internacional.

livestreamOn Monday January 3 2022, the ninth installment of the Internet Society Livestreaming‘s ‘12 Days of Streams‘ annual highlights features the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Forum (AprIGF) Showcase #2 entitled ‘Internet’s Technical Success Factors‘ from September 29 2021. This was a presentation of a preliminary report on an Analysys Mason study, jointly commissioned by APNIC and LACNIC, of whether the Internet continues to be “fit for purpose”.

livestreamOn Monday November 27 2017 at 9am ET the Internet Society New York Chapter will host a breakfast briefing Internet in Venezuela: past, present and future at Civic Hall in NYC. According to reports, Venezuela has the slowest internet in the Western Hemisphere. The government has declared it a “luxury service” in direct defiance of UN human rights policy, and restricted development (See this report.) The Internet Society’s Latin America Bureau has expressed ‘deep concern‘ about Internet blocking in the country. Paola Perez, Vice- President of Internet Society Venezuela, Co-Chair of the LACNIC Public Policy Forum, will use the Venezuela scenario to explore the “developing country” experience and what users as stakeholders can do to try to improve it. The event will be webcast live on the Internet Society Livestream Channel.

SSIG 2016From Tuesday March 29 to Friday April 1 2016 the Eighth South School on Internet Governance (SSIG) will be held at the Organization of American States (OAS) Headquarters in Washington, DC. The main objective of the South School on Internet Governance is to train new leaders of opinion in all aspects related with Internet Governance, from a global perspective and with focus on the Latin America and Caribbean Region. The program trains university and postgraduate students from the region and from the rest of the world in understanding the complexity related with Internet Governance and its importance in the future of the Internet. Speakers include Vint Cerf, Veni Markovski, Raquel Gatto, Larry Strickling, John Curran, Bill Drake, and Danny Sepulveda. The entire event will be webcast in both English and Spanish. The English version will be relayed and archived on the Internet Society Livestream Channel.
