On Tuesday 23 June 2020 at 19:00 – 21:00 HKT (11:00 – 13:00 UTC), as part of the quarterly Hong Kong Internet Governance Forum, the Internet Society Hong Kong Chapter (ISOC HK) and the Office of the Hon Charles Mok, Legislative Councillor (IT), presents a roundtable. “Open Data – The First Step Towards A Real “Smart City”?“. In May 2020, Hong Kong Internet Society released the first “Hong Kong Open Data Index” assessment report. They’re going to discuss the open data performance and its further role in Hong Kong in the Forum.

On Monday October 6 2014 at 6pm HKT the Internet Society’s Honk Kong Chapter (ISOC HK) presented a Meetup with FireChat creator Micha Benoliel, Co-founder and CEO of Open Garden. Firechat is a phone app that enables off-the-grid communication, e.g. when there is no Internet connection or cellular phone coverage, much utilized by students during the current Hong Kong protests. The meetup focused on the technical aspects, and was webcast live on the Internet Society Chapters Channel. See video below.
