ISOC LIVEEl 6 de mayo de 2025, la Internet Society – Capítulo Chile, en colaboración con UNESCO – Chile y el Núcleo Transdisciplinario de Regulación de la Convergencia Digital, celebró el 32° Aniversario del Día Mundial de la Libertad de Prensa de la UNESCO (3 de mayo) con el evento “Gobernanza de Plataformas Digitales y nuevos desafíos para la Libertad de Expresión” en la Universidad de Chile. Durante la jornada, se presentaron en Chile las Directrices para la Gobernanza de las Plataformas Digitales de la UNESCO, que establecen responsabilidades para los Estados, las plataformas, los medios de comunicación, la academia y la sociedad civil en la promoción de la libertad de expresión en el entorno digital.

speakoutOn Monday October 27 2014, at 5pm Free Press, Common Cause, Consumers Union, Daily Kos, Demand Progress and the Media Action Grassroots Network are holding New York Speaks: A Hearing on Our Rights to Connect and Communicate at the Brooklyn Public Library. The aim – “to save Net Neutrality and stop Comcast from taking over the Internet“. Speakers include Rep. Jerrold Nadler, former FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, Mariana Ruiz of Presente.org, and Free Press President and CEO Craig Aaron. The event has two parts – at 5pm a cultural speakout featuring artists on the plaza, and at 6pm public hearing inside the Dweck Center.

Open Net advocates petition FCC to kill Qualcomm AT&T spectrum deal #broadband #fcc

Open Internet advocates Free Press, Public Knowledge, Media Access Project, Consumers Union, and the New America Foundation have jointly petitioned the FCC that the proposed transfer of spectrum from Qualcomm to AT&T is not in the public interest and should be scuppered. The group recommend that, instead, the spectrum be made available to the public on an unlicensed basis.

FCC Webcast: Comcast/NBC-Universal Public Forum July 13 #fccNBC

FCCThe FCC today announced the agenda for its Public Forum to be held in Chicago on July 13. Two panels will discuss Comcast’s proposed majority takeover of NBC Universal.  The event runs from 1pm – 8pm CT. A live webcast will be available at http://reboot.fcc.gov/live

FCC Commissioner Michael Copps will open the event.

The first panel will online video distribution. Panelists include Susan Crawford, Josh Silver of Free Press

The second panel will consider cable and satellite distribution.

There will be an open mic segment from 6-8 p.m. Questions can be submitted via e-mail to [email protected] and via Twitter using the hash tag, #fccNBC.
