WEBCAST 17 JUN – DC-IoT Session at EuroDig — IoT deployment for sustainability

ISOC LIVEOn Monday 17 June 2024 at 14:30 – 15:30 EEST (11:30-12:30 UTC) the IGF Dynamic Coalition on Internet of Things (DC-IoT) hosts a Eurodig 2024 session ‘ IoT deployment for sustainability‘. This session will propose and discuss principles of global good practice in IoT with regards to deployment of IoT specifically to address climate change and disaster prevention around the world. The results of this session will feed into the IGF DC IoT open session during the IGF 2024 in Ryadh. This DC IoT activity solicits input from Dynamic Coalitions on Core Internet Values (DC CIV) and Internet Standards, Security and Safety (DC IS3C), as well as from the Policy Network on Artificial Intelligence (PNAI) and other Dynamic Coalitions with relevant contributions.

Berkman CenterOn Tuesday, November 24, 2015 the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University presented Robin Chase, cofounder of Zipcar and Veniam, and author of Peers Inc: How People and Platforms are Inventing the Collaborative Economy and Reinventing Capitalism, giving a talk Privacy in a world of IoT, self driving cars, and a climate crisis. In the talk she lays out a near term future where communications and software platforms will deliver us smart cities, smart homes, and ubiquitous clean low cost shared transport. On the one hand we have an environmental imperative to get co2 emissions under control, use assets efficiently, deliver thriving sustainable cities. On the other hand, at what cost to privacy?
