On Thursday, 8 October 2026 at 15:00–16:00 EDT (19:00–20:00 UTC), the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) Community Broadband Networks Initiative and the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) host ‘Sustain, Empower, Evolve: Planting Local Seeds for Digital Equity‘, the latest livestream in their Building for Digital Equity series.
Timed for Digital Inclusion Week 2026 (4–10 October), it asks what it takes to keep digital equity work alive, growing and reaching people locally as federal support retreats. The hour opens with a policy update on where Digital Equity Act funding stands — what is moving and what is stalled. It then spotlights building wireless connectivity for tiny-home communities in Seattle, an audience-engaging case study in harnessing local expertise, coordinating local volunteers and facing sustainability challenges. It closes with a conversation on how digital inclusion work is evolving in practice, as front-line workers discuss how funding models and digital navigators are adapting.
