On Thursday, 15 October 2026 at 15:00–17:00 EAT (12:00–14:00 UTC), the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), in partnership with Masterspace Solutions Ltd. (MSS), hosts a regional webinar ‘IPv6 National Implementation: Accelerating Pan-Africa Transition and Connectivity‘.

With the shortage of IPv4 addresses and the rapid expansion of digital transformation initiatives including 5G rollouts, cloud infrastructure, and the Internet of Things (IoT), accelerating the transition to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) has become a strategic priority for Africa’s digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, and connectivity goals. Africa’s IPv6 adoption stood at 6.1% in September 2026, against 41.7% for the world (APNIC Labs). Several gaps in policy and regulation, skills, awareness, and implementation were identified in a regional landscape study conducted by the ATU.

This webinar is the first of a four-webinar series and is designed to address those gaps, including a relevant framework for national IPv6 implementation. Themes are the strategic imperative; national policy & regulatory enablers; capacity building & infrastructure readiness; Member State case studies; and an interactive discussion on the way forward. Simultaneous English and French interpretation is provided.
