ICANN40 underway in San Francisco #icann

ICANN’s 40th meeting is taking place this week March 13-18 2011 in San Francisco. The major topic of conversation will again be the rollout of new gTLDs and, quite specifically the Government Advisory Committee’s recent objections to the final draft of the Applicants Guidebook. Other current issues are WHOIS and .xxx . Bill Clinton will deliver a keynote on Wednesday.

    • Approval of .xxx application (long delayed)
    • Determination that new gTLD process will be finalized at Singapore meet in June 2011.
