On March 19, 2026, the World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) hosted a webinar ‘Balancing Innovation and Sovereignty — Decoding AI Regulation in East Asia‘. Charles Mok, Internet Society trustee, summarized some findings in his previous and recent articles on the artificial intelligence governance landscape in East Asia, plus briefly looked at a few key Asian markets beyond East Asia such as India and Singapore, with some discussion on the debate of innovation versus sovereignty for AI.
