On Monday 4 May 2026, the Internet Governance Forum hosted a Best Practice Forum ‘ Securing Access to the Internet and Protecting Core Internet Resources in Contexts of Conflict and Crises‘ at Geneva Cyber Week. Through a moderated roundtable, participants explored gaps in emergency connectivity responses for civilian populations, emerging normative questions on how existing law and rights frameworks apply to digital connectivity in crisis and conflict, and the importance of coordinated, pre-crisis cooperation to strengthen Internet resilience. Bringing together multistakeholder perspectives, the session aimed to foster shared understanding and practical pathways for protecting Internet access before, during, and after crises globally today.
