On November 4, 2025 the Accessibility NYC Meetup (A11yNYC) hosted a meetup ‘From Reactive to Proactive: Building a Sustainable Accessibility Program‘. Lina Trifon of Ellevation Education detailed the real-world journey of building a sustainable accessibility program by shifting from a reactive “fix-it” mode to a proactive culture where accessibility is integrated from the start. She shared the practical strategies and key lessons learned, from building a compelling business case to implementing a two-pronged strategy for managing existing debt while building for the future. She also introduced the concept of an accessibility maturity model as a tool for charting your course.
