livestreamOn Monday 1 June 2020, from 2pm-3pm EAT (11:00-12:00 UTC) the African Union Commission, the Internet Society, and the African Telecommunications Union will host the first webinar in the ‘African Internet Resilience‘ series.

This webinar, ‘Internet Resilience in Africa in the context of COVID-19‘ assesses the growing impact of COVID-19 on livelihoods and work in Africa and examines the readiness of the continent’s Internet infrastructure to help mitigate those challenges. The event will discuss the impact of the quick and major changes in the use of the Internet that occurred in the last few months due to COVID-19 on the operations of organizations such as AFRINIC, Internet Service Providers and Cable Operators. It also discusses how the Internet has allowed business continuity during lockdowns and how governments, regulators, operators and the private sector have used the Internet to ease the disruption of our social and economic life. Last but not least, it will discuss how the Internet is being used in the fight against COVID-19. Participation is via Zoom in English and French.

Le lundi 1er juin 2020, de 14h00 à 15h00 EAT (11h00-12h00 UTC), la Commission de l’Union Africaine, l’Internet Society et l’Union Africaine des Télécommunications organiseront le premier webinaire de la série “ African Internet Resilience ”. Ce webinaire, “ La résilience d’Internet en Afrique dans le contexte de COVID-19 ” évalue l’impact croissant de COVID-19 sur les moyens de subsistance et le travail en Afrique et examine l’état de préparation de l’infrastructure Internet du continent pour aider à atténuer ces défis. L’événement discutera de l’impact des changements rapides et majeurs dans l’utilisation d’Internet survenus au cours des derniers mois en raison de COVID-19 sur les opérations d’organisations telles qu’AFRINIC, les fournisseurs de services Internet et les câblo-opérateurs. Il explique également comment Internet a permis la continuité des activités pendant les fermetures et comment les gouvernements, les régulateurs, les opérateurs et le secteur privé ont utilisé Internet pour faciliter la perturbation de notre vie sociale et économique. Enfin et surtout, il discutera de la manière dont Internet est utilisé dans la lutte contre COVID-19. La participation se fait via Zoom en anglais et en français.
