WEBCAST TODAY: @A11yVR – VR Interactions – A comparison between Gaze, Controller and Hand w/ Sam Qorbani @HSamarQ

livestreamToday, Thursday May 21 2020 at 7pm EDT (23:00 UTC) the Accessibility VR Meetup hosts ‘VR Interactions – A comparison between Gaze, Controller and Hand‘ on Mozilla Hubs. Object selection and manipulation are an essential part of any Virtual Reality (VR) experience, and several studies are done every year to explore this area of technology. For the person(s) with a temporary or permanent physical disability, virtual reality (VR) means the potential to try activities which they usually cannot do in real life. However, the use of a controller can be challenging for certain users with limited hand/finger dexterity. Sam Qorbani will talk about how he is exploring object selection and manipulation using gaze-based/head tracking for Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) environment using the Oculus Quest device. The session will be webcast live via a partnership with the Internet Society Accessibility SIG (A11ySIG).
